DAY 2
WE CAN WORRY OR WE CAN PRAY
I’m a mother. I tend to worry. Isn’t that what mothers are supposed to do??
There are so many things to worry about. Serious issues concerning my kids (and grandkids) that have the potential to drastically alter the course of their lives. As my children get older, the temptation to worry does not go away. Bigger kids often equal bigger problems.
It may sound simplistic but I can choose to worry or I can choose to pray. The cure for worry is not to worry less. It’s praying more.
I’ve heard worry and prayer described as the two sides of a coin. You can choose to worry or you can choose to pray but you can’t do both. Worry negates prayer but prayer cancels worry.
Paul told the Philippian Church, “Do not be anxious about anything, but IN EVERY SITUATION, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
The antidote to anxiety or worry, IN EVERY SITUATION, is to present our requests to God.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Pray that the Lord will lead your children in the decisions they are making.
“As for you…walk before me faithfully, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that he has commanded.”1 Kings 9:4
Lord, give our children minds and hearts that remain faithful to you all the days of their lives.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
Lord, keep our children safe in this increasingly unsafe world. Protect them from harm and wickedness. When they are in danger, cause them to run to You as their safe place and refuge
