Pastoral Connection: Spiritual GPS – The Way, the Truth, the Life
March 17, 2024
Reread John 13:33 – 38; 14:1 – 7
“Are we opening the road to Christ and pointing everyone to him?”
God, the perfect Father, does not want His children lost as we move toward Him, and certainly doesn’t want us confused or distracted along the way. The Father does not want us outside of His presence, which is why He sent Jesus to be the Way to His presence, the Truth about the Father, and ultimately the Life that brings us into the Father’s kingdom.
Jesus didn’t claim to be “a” way to the Father, as if we might get lost so He was offering and additional path. He also eliminates all barriers that existed between the Father and His people such as those that hindered others around the temple.
In addition to showing us and becoming the way for us, Jesus demonstrated the truth regarding the Father’s nature. Should we ever want to know anything about the Father’s desires, character, or nature, we need only look at Jesus.
Just as Jesus breathed life into Adam’s nostrils, today He breaths the life of the Holy Spirit into us. We were given the ability by the Holy Spirit to spread the message further than Jesus because there was only one of him in a small area of the world. Meanwhile, there are many of us who can travel and send messages much easier today.
Dive Deeper
John 20:21, 22 “Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’”
Hebrews 1:3 “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
Practical Application
Ask yourself if you are clearing Christ’s road and pointing the way to the Father, or are you standing in it, blocking traffic, either intentionally or unintentionally.
If you are born again, equipped with the Holy Spirit, how are you helping to guide others to our Heavenly Father?
